Pirhossein Kolivand, President of the Iranian Red Crescent Society, visited Pardis Technology Park (PTP) on June 30, 2026, to assess the capabilities of resident companies in the medical equipment sector, emphasizing the critical role of domestic manufacturing in national health resilience, the IIID Media Center reported.

During the visit to one of the country's largest technology ecosystems, Kolivand toured the permanent medical equipment exhibition at PTP and inspected two active knowledge-based companies specializing in medical device production.

Key takeaways from the visit include:

  • Proven Reliability: Kolivand noted that many technologies developed within the Iran International Innovation District (IIID) are already successfully deployed in national treatment centers, the National Emergency Organization, and the Red Crescent, significantly bolstering institutional trust in domestic capabilities.
  • International Validation: He cited a recent incident where a senior World Health Organization (WHO) official suffered a cardiac event in Iran. Domestic pre-hospital emergency equipment enabled real-time ECG transmission to the hospital, allowing the medical team to prepare specialized interventions before the patient's arrival. The WHO official subsequently commended the interoperability and quality of the Iranian technology.
  • Strategic Commitment: Kolivand reaffirmed the Red Crescent's ongoing commitment to sourcing from domestic knowledge-based companies, stating that supporting local innovation is essential for reducing foreign dependency and enhancing the healthcare system's overall resilience.
