FabLab's mobile initiative, supported by Tehran Municipality, introduces 3D printing and robotics to students, aiming to foster future innovators.
A new "Mobile Creativity and Fabrication Laboratory" was unveiled to bring hands-on technology education to schools across Tehran, the Iran International Innovation District (IIID) Media Center reported on June 23, 2026.
Designed and executed by FabLab, a knowledge-based company within the IIID, the "Mobile FabLab" project began its operations in Shahr-e Rey. Supported by the Organization for New Technologies and Urban Innovation of Tehran Municipality, the initiative moves learning beyond traditional classroom walls, delivering technology directly to students.
The first stop at Mohandes Vahid Keyhani Elementary School in Shahr-e Rey offered students a practical alternative to purely theoretical education. The mobile lab focuses on equipping youth with skills relevant to the knowledge-based economy through:
Yahya Nourian, CEO of FabLab, emphasized that the project is the result of months of ideation, spatial design, and content development by the FabLab and FabKoodak teams, aimed at creating a construction-based learning experience.
Behzad Paymard, CEO of the Organization for New Technologies and Urban Innovation of Tehran Municipality, noted that the initiative targets students aged 10 to 16. He stated that the mobile labs teach adolescents how to transform an initial idea into a tangible product, shifting their role from mere technology consumers to future creators and producers of innovative ideas.
