Reza Aflatouni, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Head of the Natural Resources and Watershed Management Organization, visited Pardis Technology Park (PTP) on May 9, 2026, to explore technological solutions for smart forestry and natural resource management, the IIID Media Center reported.

During a meeting with Mehdi Saffarinia, President of Pardis Technology Park (PTP), Aflatouni emphasized the critical role of knowledge-based companies in bridging the gap between academic research and practical environmental execution. He noted that while science and technology parks have created a strong foundation, significant capacity remains to further align research with the country's real-world ecological challenges.

Aflatouni outlined several key areas where tech firms can drive impactful change in natural resource management:

  • Enhancing seedling production quality and capacity to support the national "1 Billion Trees" planting campaign.
  • Utilizing aerial imaging and drone technology for rapid wildfire detection.
  • Deploying artificial intelligence to monitor vegetation density and track ecological changes over time.
  • Developing advanced systems for pest and disease control in forests and rangelands.

The Deputy Minister also identified the organization’s educational centers in Kalak (Karaj) and Kelardasht (Chalus) as prime venues for future joint technological initiatives. The visit concluded with tours of resident companies within the Iran International Innovation District (IIID), including Dideh Pardaz Raymon, Zist Piramon, Maz Daroo, and Hoshmand Pardazan Pishro Arvand, to review their specific environmental tech capabilities
